It would be great if we can connect or open the password protected excel workbook inside Power BI Desktop. Of course we should know & provide the password first.

It would be very important to me to add this functionnality to Power Query. I needed to remove password from all my files to be able to use PQ on them...

Not helpful to restrict access to sensitive files for reporting purposes, please remove and enable import.

It would also be so good to have this for PQ in Excel too

I am also facing the same issue... I am sure a lot of company wants a dashboard off of a locked spreadsheets... Especially from Sharepoint and OneDrive... Like ask for a password before open/edit.
RE: Connect to password protected excel workbook
I landed here after a very quick search for 'Power BI password protected Excel'. I cannot believe this is a thing! Surely there should be a way to enter the password in Power BI and convey it securely to the Excel workbook. Needs implementing!
RE: Connect to password protected excel workbook
As Excel and PowerBI are from the same company, it should be possible to have a field for "Password", so PowerBI could via API or something similar pass the required code.
