A report filter with the ability to copy a list of data, be it numerical or text, from an excel document and paste it into a filter allowing for the visualization to update.

This would be similar to a Multiple Values - Custom List filter in a competitors visualization software.

Real world example: If you have a data set that is made up of 100,000 SKUs and you want to analyze a list of 100 SKUs with different attributes, but the only thing you are interested is this custom list.

If this is already an Idea I am happy to vote that up and remove this post.

Thanks for your help.

RE: Multiple Value - Custom List Filter

There is workaround before Power BI product team create this function: by installing "Filter by List by Devscop", on Power BI Desktop extension. It can copy/paste multiple values and do multiple slicer on the report. https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-us/product/power-bi-visuals/WA104381413?tab=Overview

RE: Multiple Value - Custom List Filter

I'm constantly making the case for Power BI over alternatives. Please Put this feature in!!! We need it - This would be a gut-punch to Tablleau snobs.

RE: Multiple Value - Custom List Filter

Please we need this to be added in PowerBi!!! I have been waiting a lot to have this for filtering a custom list for any field. Right now PowerBI only have the option to just make a selection of two or three values in the advanced filtering or selecting manually one by one in the basic filtering. This would help me A LOT in my work. For example, Tableau software already has it... but PowerBI should be better than Tableau!

RE: Multiple Value - Custom List Filter

My company is migrating from Spotfire to Power BI and this is very easy to do in Spotfire. We frequently have to filter tables of 10,000+ values down to ~100 desired rows, and use Excel to produce a delimited string which is pasted into the filter. Current slicers only offer one-by-one ticking of boxes to achieve this which isn't practical.

This is standard functionality for anyone needing to hack data up.

RE: Multiple Value - Custom List Filter

Currently we are having to export to Excel to do a V-Lookup. This needs to be solved.

RE: Multiple Value - Custom List Filter

Agree! Under "Advanced Filtering", possibly add "Is in the list" and "Is not in the list" options where we can paste a long list of values.

RE: Multiple Value - Custom List Filter

Hi, this requirement is basic and must.
As of now visual level filter allow up to 2 values only. We should have minimum 100K
