+1If it'll get it done more quickly, set "shade area" to appear behind all other values by default. Ideally, users should be able to set it precisely as needed in their charts, but I feel like it would belong in the back of the visual stack in the majority of cases.

There is no way to add a border to the gauge arc itself. It disappears in the negative space on a white background. Request ability to apply custom border on the gauge arc.
RE:
While the colors can be changed and ranges established, the ability to put a border on the gauge arc itself is not available. The gauge looks lost in the negative space. A border would correct this. I don't consider this visual finished.

We have this exact problem with one of our customer. He is in retail a lots of transactions are with credit card.Depending of the hour of the transaction, the bank record the transaction on the same say or the day after. So he can have multiple bank lines for multiples transactions. He can't do many-to-many matching and even if the total balance to 0 he can't post because each single match are not balanced.I now have to tell him he can't do his reconciliation in BC...

this would be a nice feature
