RE:
I see this is planned now. What is the timeline?

This is a super simple solution, and I don't know why it hasn't happened yet! People mis-scanning passes causes big issues in remittance and inventory, and just stopping the cashier from having the ability to scan the SKU as the pass number would save us so much time trying to figure out where "missing" passes went. Please make this happen!

I think it is very useful to have visibility of the parametric variant code. I think it could be resolved with a specific Application Area.Damiano Zaniboni

Ditto comments. This will help operations.
RE:
It would be Q1 of 2025, so pretty soon. We have added the this to the public release notes as well.https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/release-plan/admin-governance#take-ownership-fabric-items
RE:
This is the best approach yet to solving this issue. It should be low cost able to work for many other stakeholders.
RE:
We customized the item inquiry mobile device menu item with configuration to do this. We have a specific document routing layout and added a toggle for print hangtag and a field with a drop down list of valid document routing layouts to use. We also added a printing limit because we had a few people scan the next barcode instead of entering the quantity of labels to print. We had to clear our print queues because we didn't need 9 billion hangtags.

Still a problem in Jan 2025!
RE:
This is an idea whose time has come. This would make it impossible to make a very easy and minor misstep that has major implications for data tracking and bookkeeping.
RE:
Please consider making this happen!
