I have a large set of options from which I would like to pick some specific ones and use them in a slicer to filter my data.
Currently, this is not possible while it is an implemented feature for other chart types.
I'm currently using a 100% stacked column chart as a workaround.

I'm happy to say this is now complete! In the June 2019 release of Power BI Desktop you'll see you can set visual level filters on slicers. There's one known issue where applying a measure filter to a slicer in range mode causes the visual to show an error. We'll release a fix in an interim update before the July release. Thanks for your patience and your votes, everyone!

This is a must have for me. When I connect to SSAS i have like 10 different entities to choose from, which gives me an enormous amount of possibilities when slicing. Works perfectly in Excel, so should work in Power Bi as well!?

This is not currently available. Page-level filters can be applied, but not visual filters.

RE: Visual level filtering in slicers

The slicer should be dynamic and only display relevant selections. If I have two slicers, one that filters on year, I would want the customer slicer to only display customers from that year(s) to further filter by. Subsequently or alternately, if I select customers, then I only want to see years that they bought to further my selection. It makes no sense to present the user with selections that leave all the other visuals blank. I understand due to the interactive nature of selecting items on charts, it could potentially cause conflicts between what's selected on the chart vs what's selected on slicer, but this is a constant use feature for me in a different product.

Yeah, a lot of times you have details about a product in the list like it's release date. And you want to sort from newest to oldest as you generally query about newer items.

RE: Visual level filtering in slicers

There is a cutsom visualization called "Hierarchy Slicer" that has this functionality. You don't have to use the hierarchy aspect of the slicer if you don't need it, but the list filters down based on your other selections. This needs a permanent fix though, and I know there can be issues with custom visuals on mobile devices.

Filtering by a measure would be awesome. This would let me have one slicer on the Product table and have it crossfilter the Stores slicer based upon a sales measure. Otherwise, it's hard to crossfilter slicers that are in different tables.

When looking for exceptions in data I am trying to present the top 10 in a slicer for the purpose of interactively turning them off. If we could have a slicer/toggle column in the table view that would work great for lots of purposes I think. Especially if a sort/helper column could be hidden if needed. Trying to think of a workaround and maybe I'll have to create identical pages with page filters and toggle between pages.

Here is a workaround till Power BI team enable such feature: Using DAX Calculated Tables; http://radacad.com/filtering-slicer-resolved-in-power-bi

Filtering at the page or report level will remove items from your slicer
