Can we add sparkline support to tables and matrix? Native Excel PivotTable supports it.

12/20/21: The feature was shipped as Preview Feature in the December 2021 Update.
We're in the process of planning and developing the feature! Look out for it in the coming months.

RE: Sparkline

Sparklines in a table is considered standard functionality, everyone else has this. The only reason we went with Tableau over Power BI was because tables/matrix don't support sparklines.

RE: Sparkline

'Would be very useful, especially when formatting of sparklines is possible:
-chart type: line chart, horizontal bar, column, ...
-colors: and even coloring datapoints (for example with a function)
-adding datalabels and formatting
-add a sparkline in one cell that contains 2 or more measures (for comparison so we don't need multiple columns)

The suggestion of Chris Webb is worth mentioning: using report page tooltips that can be shown in a table/matrix cell:

RE: Sparkline

Admin: Can you *please* roll the "In table/matrix visualisations" idea at https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/12898575-in-table-matrix-visualisations into this one, so that they get the combined weight they deserve?

Of course, it's not just these 1100-plus-and-countingvoters that think Sparklines are a good idea:
Stephen Few 2006: "Sparklines are ideal for dashboards. Every dashboard vendor ought to support them"

Edward Tufte 2006: "Imagine new software or a new computer display that enormously improved the resolution of data graphics. How wonderful and valuable that would be. Sparklines provide such improvements by design"

Tableau has 'em. Qlik has 'em. Heck, even Excel has 'em...

RE: Sparkline

This was submitted almost 4 years ago. There is already a custom visual "Matrix KPI" available, yes, but not all companies allow custom visuals. So I think I am not alone when saying that a native support would be appreciated.

Microsoft Admin: Can you please roll this idea into https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/6795573-sparkline so that they get the combined weight in your prioritization that they deserve?

RE: Sparkline

Agree with maximum85...what kind of Business Intelligence product doesn't have one of the most helpful Business Intelligence visualisations in existence built in? Do you *really* need more votes to prioritize such a basic staple of data viz practitioners worldwide? Compared to Sparklines, most other visuals are *severely* lacking in visual bandwidth. Lack of Sparklines in a Table is the only reason I'm not fullheartedly embracing this product. I can live without almost any other feature for now, but not this one.

Idea submitted in 2014, and we still don't get this feature until now at 2018
