RE: field of "duration" type
I’m currently having to create (in Power Query) about 10 duration fields that’s first converted to seconds with type as an integer. Then doing some calculations in DAX to get the averages, max, min, differences, standard deviations etc. Then finally doing some complex conversions back to time.
Having duration type in DAX would avoid having the extra steps

So, what's the purpose to have duration data type in Power Query and not in Report View Mode? Please add duration data type in Report Mode or then remove duration data type from Power Query, since it's useless the way it's now, and won't create any expectation that it will work in report view mode.

I'm able to assign "duration" as a data type in Power Query, but then it totally gets messed up when I apply my query in the desktop app. What's going on? Is this supported yet?
