Allow a user to set the default value for a slicer or tile-by value on a page/dashboard, so that when the Power View page is opened for the first time, the default value is selected.
eg. If the page has a slicer for Year or Month, allow the user to configure the most recent Year or Month to be selected by default.

Update 10/20/2022 - Update from Mo - we are working on this in the new year

Thanks for everyone's votes and comments. This is a feature on our backlog; however we cannot share a timeline at the moment.

It looks like many of the requests will be addressed by the new 'Sticky filters' capability. Now when you log out of Power BI and come back to a report, the same items will be selected as when you left. For those who're looking to have a 'last month' selection, the relative date slicer might help. Those with comments about currencies where having multiple selected makes the report meaningless - the report will load with whatever selection the author saved, so if you save it with one currency selected your users will see that by default. If there are scenarios that these features don't address, please let us know in your comments - if you are really specific it'll help us build the feature to work just the way you want! Thanks again!

Power BI is almost unusable witihout this possibility. Please fix this now.

Please implement this ASAP. Very fundamental feature, the absence of which diminishes the utility & usability of otherwise sophisticated and elegant dashboards.

Something like one-time DAX script which can run at the load of the report and assign a value to the date slicer (latest available business day). And then slicer can be used normally as we use it today to select the dates from calendar.

Is this feature already available? It should be able automatically set all the slicer value to max after upload report, instead of the developer need to set all slicer value to max one by one after debugging or development.

RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration

This is a must have feature (it's available in almost all other BI tools though).

We have a Date Slicer that allows user to select From/To dates. However, the report needs to default to the Last Business Day, so that every time users access the report, they do not need to manually select the slicer values.

The workaround is using a calculated column to identify the last business day, and subsequently filter the report on that column, but that would take away the flexibility to select a custom date range, so this approach doesn't quite help either.

It's high time that you deliver this please.

RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration

This is a must have feature. I wonder why this isn't available in Power BI in the first place, when it's available in almost all other BI tools.

We have a Date Slicer that allows users to select From/To dates. Users normally need to view data for the last business day, so every time they access the report, they need to manually select the slicer values.

If we could set a default value to the date slicer (say, last business day, which could easily be calculated using a DAX formula), that would have helped.

A workaround could be using a calculated column to identify the last business day, and subsequently filtering the report on that column, but that would take away the flexibility to select a custom date range, so even this doesn't help. Similarly, the relative date slicer doesn't help too.

The Sticky filters isn't of any use either, as that would not change the selected date range in the slicer dynamically.

RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration

I need default filter to be max date of my data, not the last month. That is why, the relative slicer can't help.

This would be a very useful feature very much like Performance Point.

RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration

Absolutely need this - i need to default to the most recent date ( not necessisarily today () ) but allow selection of another date in the past via dropdown, not relative date. When an auditor comes, they want to see what happened on a specific date, not 37 days ago.
