Support the creation of DAX calculation groups in Power BI Desktop - otherwise Power BI can only consume calculation groups created in Analysis Services, whereas it would be very useful to have this feature in any Power BI model.
Even just a simple text window with a script would be fine. You can clean up the UI later.
Thanks.

Yes, please! Ability to apply the same measure to multiple different columns/measures is an efficiency that users of "standard" Excel are familiar with and is one thing the structured data model/measures currently makes difficult.Calcularion Groups is a great solution here.Tabular Editor seems like a powerful tool but feels intimidating as an intermediate user, with fears of potentially introducing error by using an unfamiliar tool.Bringing Calculation Groups into native DAX in Power BI Desktop would be a HUGE lift for clean, understandable data models and powerful interactivity within reports.

Hi all,

this was acutally solved with PowerBI August 2020 version.
It now allows you to use external tools and you are able to create calculation groups with the external tool "Tabular Editor".

Although the current Calculation Group solution is great and offers many opportunities there are some important updates needed for Calculation Groups:

- KPI support (symbol and color support)
- data bar support in Powerbi matrix on selected calculation group item(s) while having 1 measure with multiple calculation group items on columns.

This really needed since workaround switching measures have serious performance issues.

looks like we are getting this via XMLA endpoints which will allow 3rd party tool connectivity for tabular editor which will allow you to create calculation groups (also the new Enhanced Metadata preview feature). Exciting! This also solved the not being able to graph custom formatted numbers!

This would be great to use in combination with matrix tables. Would be great if it could be implemented soon!
