    This functionality is much needed. It would guess that almost no customers uses the existing functionality as it requires the periods to be created and open (whereas the latter is quite problematic).

    I think it would be very useful to have Dataslayer in Microsoft Marketplace for Power BI. The setup would be much faster and more convenient. Plus, it would be in a secure and trusted place like the Microsoft Marketplace.

    I agree, it should be available as option. It will be great to add checkbox in the Publish window of Power BI desktop, to update related App. In some cases when it is really minor change . like text spelling mistake re-publish of report should not require any additional steps.
