When the parameters/tiles on a real-time dashboard are updating, a moving icon shows up indicating the update is in progress. When a refresh rate is configured, this happens for all tiles/parameters at the same time. When the refresh rate is set to "continuous" it is even more annoying as you will see "updating", followed by "updated as of less than a minute a go", and straight after that it switches back to "updating".   This results in a lot of movement on the dashboard distracting customers without adding any value. Customer should be triggered when the value of a tile changes (conditional formatting can be used for this), not when the update status of the tile/parameter itself changes.   The text indicating when the tile was updated is useful (especially in case of failures), but the "updating" spinners should be removed to make the dashboard calmer for the eye.   If an indicator is required for whatever reason, leave out the spinner icons and simply show "updating" without a spinner next to it. ... Monitor report usage metrics - Power BI | Microsoft Learn   Referring to the steps in the document above, after creating the Power BI usage metrics, I performed the following steps: 1. Specified a new semantic model "Report Usage Metrics Model" as the data source from Power BI Desktop. 2. Switched to the model view and clicked "Make changes to this model" from the menu to change to DirectQuery mode. After changing the storage mode to "DirectQuery" with the above steps,   I can check the storage mode from "Properties," but it is grayed out, confirming that the storage mode cannot be changed.   The storage mode is grayed out. I understand that the "Usage Metric Report" is read-only, so there are limitations in functionality, but it would be convenient if the storage mode could be changed, so I will submit this as a request for improvement. ... I would like to be able to grant write permissions on a directory-by-directory basis to individual users or target groups in OneLake's "Manage OneLake Data Access."   Currently, "Manage OneLake Data Access" only has settings for "Read" and "ReadAll."   The roles that are automatically granted write permissions are the "Workspace Admin Role," "Member Role," and "Contributor Role." It would be beneficial to incorporate features from Pivot tables that allow for the expansion and collapse of columns and hierarchical column groups within tabular visuals. Problem: Currently, when a dataset is connected to a Lakehouse as a datasource in Power BI Fabric, it defaults to a cloud connection mapped to SSO. In embedded mode, reports built on these datasets fail due to a lack of identity, as they do not inherit authentication from the service principal. To resolve this, users must manually adjust the datasource settings via the Power BI service https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/fundamentals/direct-lake-fixed-identity   Proposed Solution: Introduce a new REST API or extend the current API functionality to allow programmatic setting (or re-setting) of the connection to the service principal, including updating datasources. Dear Power BI Team, I hope this message finds you well. I would like to bring to your attention a challenge that many Power BI users, including myself, face while designing professional reports. Specifically, the current version of Power BI Desktop lacks an option to fully justify text within textboxes. The ability to justify text is a fundamental feature for text alignment in most design and reporting tools. Its absence in Power BI makes it challenging to create visually balanced and professional reports, especially when presenting large paragraphs of text or narratives. Aligning text to the left, center, or right does not provide the same level of visual harmony and readability as a fully justified format does. This limitation is particularly evident when creating reports for stakeholders or clients where high standards of presentation are expected. I believe that implementing a Justify Alignment option would significantly enhance Power BI's text formatting capabilities, ensuring users can produce polished and well-structured reports. It would also align Power BI with other reporting tools that already offer this feature, further strengthening its position as a leading data visualization platform. Fabric Warehouse currently supports the OPENROWSET function, which allows you to read CSV files directly. However, when it comes to reading JSON files, you need to use a workaround. This involves treating JSON files as text or CSV files and then using OPENJSON and JSON functions to parse the JSON documents. While this method works, it is considered a hacky workaround and not very elegant. To improve this, Fabric Warehouse should add a native support for JSON in the OPENROWSET function.
